Description:
The British defeated the Colonies in the Battle of Bunker Hill, but it was a terribly tragic moment for both sides, resulting in the aftermath of an even more violent 8 years of war. The white obelisk monument made from Quincy granite was gradually erected between 1825 and 1843 and includes 294 steps going to the top. It's a bit of a climb, but well worth the view of surrounding Charlestown.
