Description:
The Gay Head Lighthouse, located in Aquinnah, Massachusetts, is an iconic beacon perched on the stunning cliffs of Martha's Vineyard. Built in 1856, it was constructed to guide mariners past the island's dangerous shoals. The lighthouse is renowned for its striking red brick structure and its historical significance as one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States. In 2015, due to erosion threatening the cliffs, the lighthouse was moved 129 feet inland to preserve this historic landmark for future generations.
