The oldest building in West Springfield, this brick house was built in 1754 - called "saltbox style." The owner, Josiah Day, was known for being outspokenly in favor of West Springfield's separation from Springfield. The house was also witness to the American Revolution; some of the Hessian troops employed by the British had encamped here. Today, the house is open to the public as a museum. It has been restored to its original condition and furnished with antiques from the 1700s and 1800s. (Submitted by Shirley Beauchemin Thurston)
