Salem Witch Trials Memorial

Saves: 41
Check-ins: 40
An unfortunate blight on American history which has been extensively studied, written about, hypothesized about, and reimagined in stories and movies, the Salem Witch Trials have long fascinated and horrified people around the world. More than 300 years later the real victims have often been forgotten with the commercialization of this event. This memorial aims to put those victims back into focus - 14 women and 6 men who were tried, convicted, and executed for being witches. 20 granite benches are inscribed with the names of the accused along with the form and date of execution - a reminder of how fragile a civil society is.
