Designed by the noted American author, the Mount was, as she described, "her first real home." Born into a wealthy family, Edith Wharton was quite used to the luxuries of life and she didn't scrimp on the Mount either. The mansion is said to be haunted; Edith was plagued by supernatural terrors all her life.
