Description:

In 1992, the 12,000-lb anchor of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was recovered from the Detroit River. The freighter sank in 1975, taking all 29 crewmembers with her the depths of the river. After it was recovered, it was placed here in memory of the people who lost their lives. It's located at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum and can easily be seen from outside. The parking lot is conveniently located right next to the museum, which is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but of course donations of $5 or more are greatly appreciated to help keep the lights on!
