Description:
Overlooking Lake Superior from a bluff is a giant copper statue of Bishop Baraga, a Slovenian-born Catholic Jesuit who left his country in 1830. His mission might be seen through a more modern lens today, but while he was here he learned to speak the languages of the native tribes as well as to brave the harsh winters. There is a small gift shop near the statue and park. The Holy Store and Snack Shop is open May 15 through October 15. Hours: Monday through Saturday: 11 AM to 5 PM and pasties are sold Thursday through Saturday.
