Description:

Gilbert’s Lodge, a rustic “Up North” themed bar and grill on Harper Avenue, has been a beloved local landmark since the early 1960s, known for its cozy log cabin exterior, hearty American fare, and community atmosphere. The venue gained wider recognition when, in the 1990s, a young Marshall Mathers, later known worldwide as Eminem, worked there as a short order cook for about $6.50 an hour and even performed at the establishment while working toward his music career. Despite suffering a major kitchen fire in October 2013 that extensively damaged its interior, Gilbert’s has remained an enduring fixture in St. Clair Shores, celebrated both for its food and its unique place in music history.
