Hell, Michigan

If you really want to know what Hell on Earth feels like head to southern Michigan. In the Hiland Lake region you'll find a little town named Hell, population under 300. No one really knows why it is called Hell - as the town is quite pleasant and quaint. One theory, as German speakers might have guessed, is that German immigrants named the town - "hell" is an adjective meaning "light" or "bright" in German.
