Dubbed "Norman Gothic," the architectural style of this lighthouse was so popular it was used in the construction of a few other lighthouses in Wisconsin and Michigan. Although the lighthouse was built in 1869 and deactivated in 1906 it has not been listed on the National Register of Historic Places yet. However, it is open for tours with no admission charged.
