The American Swedish Institute is a museum and cultural center dedicated to preserving historical roles that Swedish and Swedish Americans have played in U.S. history and culture. The entire complex consists of the Swan Turnblad Mansion which was completed in 1910 and the connecting Nelson Cultural Center that was completed in 2012. Museum exhibitions are offered from Sweden and the Nordic region including expanded performing arts offerings. Nordic cuisine is served at the museum's restaurant, FIKA, which in 2013 was named "Best Lunch In Minnesota" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
