Description:

Gordy & Marilyn Lundquist, native to Duluth, established the first A & W Root Beer Stand in Eveleth, Minnesota in 1950. They served homemade root beer and hand-pattied hamburgers through car-hop service, offering a nostalgic family outing. In 1955, they built the London Inn Drive Inn in Duluth, a popular spot for high school students. The London Inn thrived, offering affordable meals and fostering a vibrant atmosphere. In 1960, the Lundquists built Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet, maintaining their commitment to handmade burgers, onion rings, fish, and shakes. Even in their 80s, Gordy and Marilyn remain involved, spending winters in Florida and returning for each season at the Hi-Hat.
