Lake Superior Railroad Museum

The Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, Minnesota has 7 steam, 14 diesel, and 2 electric locomotives. This collection includes the first locomotive to operate in Minnesota, the William Crooks (1861). The largest steam engines to operate are also on display - the Iron Range Railway Number 227 and a 2-8-8-4 "Yellowstone" locomotive. The museum operates the North Shore Scenic Railroad which is a heritage railroad (meaning the railroad is not part of mainstream railway travel but connected to museums for historical purposes).
