Description:

Neumann’s Bar, believed to be the oldest continually operating bar in Minnesota, opened in 1887 to serve Hamm’s beer to local workers and travelers in what is now North St. Paul. During Prohibition it stayed active by offering near beer downstairs and running a hidden speakeasy upstairs, complete with a peephole and screening phone that can still be seen today. In the 1930s the bar added a quirky frog pond in its front window, a feature that remains part of its charm. Neumann’s is known for hearty pub fare, with favorites such as classic burgers, hand cut fries, and chili topped Coney dogs.
