Description:
In 1985, artist Claes Oldenburg and his wife, Coosje van Bruggen, erected this giant spoon and cherry which has become the centerpiece of the Walker Art Center's Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Oldenburg's love was making art displays of everyday objects and food in GIANT sizes! For instance, the spoon itself weighs 5,800 pounds. The cherry weighs 1,200 pounds and its stem acts as a fountain spraying into the bowl of the spoon then off into the underlying pond.
