Mississippi State Capitol

The "new" state capitol was built in 1901 when Mississippi outgrew its tinier previous capitol building. The Beaux-Arts-style building is actually the third capitol to exist in Jackson. Although the state capitol was built to house all three branches of government, the judicial branch operates across the street in the Gartin Justice Building.
