This independent bookstore is spread out among three separate buildings, each about 100 feet apart. Located in the town square of Oxford (which is widely known among William Faulkner aficionados as his hub and inspiration for the fictional county of Yoknapatawpha), Square Books first opened in 1979 with a selection that focused on literature about Mississippi and the South. Each building focuses on different genres - 160 Courthouse Square is the main store, 111 has children's books and toys, and 129 has lifestyle and bargain books.
