Description:

This site was where the Battle of Vicksburg was fought during the American Civil War. The campaign finally ended after three long months with thousands of casualties. The Vicksburg National Cemetery is also located within the park's borders with 18,244 interred soldiers of which 12,954 remain unidentified.
