Description:
Arrow Rock, Missouri, perched on a limestone bluff along the Missouri River, has been a significant landmark for centuries. Originally known as "Pierre à Flèche" or "Rock of Arrows" on a 1732 French map, the area was utilized by Indigenous peoples for flint to craft tools and weapons. Established as a town in 1829, Arrow Rock became a pivotal stop on the Santa Fe Trail, serving as a hub for westward expansion and river commerce. Its rich history is preserved today as the entire village was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963.
