Description:
It's too bad that so many of these cool medieval style buildings were built originally to be prisons. The Kansas City Workhouse got its name by not only being a prison but a place where prison labor was capitalized on. Even the limestone fortress was a product of prison labor with the prisoners cutting the blocks for the structure. It's a bit ironic that the prisoners built their own method of incarceration - somewhat analogous to digging your own grave.
