It may not be the Smithsonian but the Space Museum of Bonne Terre is a lifelong passion for amateur curator Earl Mullins. He never got to be a cosmonaut so he instead collected everything he could find related to space exploration. He has a glove that once belonged to a Russian astronaut and thus made the trip into the heavens. He also has rockets, ray guns, and a treasure trove of other odds and ends with an outer-space bent. Amazingly, he convinced NASA to loan him authentic space paraphernalia so that he could create this museum in service to his city.
