Description:
Established in 1913 Dooley prospered for a short time before being completely abandoned in 1957. It was named for W.D. Dooley whose property was nicked by the Soo Line Railroad. After the railroad was built a town sprung up with 40 buildings immediately erected. However, the land was not arable and thus the town died pretty quickly. Other disasters, manmade and natural, hastened its decline. Not much is left save a steepled church that is quite striking against the bereft landscape. From MT-16 go east on Raymond Dooley Rd. and turn right on Dooley Rd. then left on Salt Lake Rd. The church will be on your right-hand side.
