Elkhorn Ghost Town

Montana had a silver-mining boom in the late 1800s and Elkhorn was one of the towns that sprung up. Surprisingly, there are about 10 residents living here in cabins that have been refurbished, although there were around 2,500 at the town's acme. For a ghost town in the middle of nowhere, the old historic buildings are in great condition and much is left exactly the way it was more than 100 years ago. The town is certainly off the beaten path; from MT-69 S turn left on White Bridge Rd. Then make a slight right on Lower Valley Rd. Continue straight onto Elkhorn Rd., turn left to stay on Elkhorn Rd., continue onto USF 258, continue onto Elkhorn Rd/NF-258, and drive for about 2 miles more.
