Description:

This arch dam, built in 1944, is located within the boundaries of Flathead National Forest. Even though it was built in the earlier part of the 20th century, it still maintains its status as the highest morning glory dam in the world. Flood control is the main reason it was built but it also generates a hydroelectric power - about a billion-kilowatt-hours annually.
