Completed in 1902, the Montana State Capitol is built in Neoclassical style with a dome topping a sandstone and granite building. The highlight of the capitol is the colossal rotunda which features four circular paintings depicting important archetypes of people vital to Montana's history. The exterior of the dome is covered in copper and decorated with a female figure known affectionately as "Lady Liberty" by the locals.
