Description:
At least 48 bodies were buried here before the cemetery was abandoned in 1885. Ogallala, known for its violence along the Texas Trail, experienced a high death rate. Some of the buried are commemorated with painted or carved wooden planks or rough crosses. In Boot Hill, a statue called The Trail Boss stands, depicting a cattle drover watching over the graves, the town, and the trail.
