This outpost on the plains, over its 75 years of military history, has been host to such notable historical figures as Crazy Horse and the cavalry and even to the K-9 Corps! Exhibits at the Fort Robinson museum trace the history of this post and its visitors from guarding the Red Cloud Agency from 1874-1877 to housing German World War II POWs from 1943-1946. Visit a dozen or so structures on the site for more history if you wish like the 1904 blacksmith shop, the 1908 veterinary hospital, the 1887 officers' quarters, the 1875 guardhouse, and the cemetery. The fort also has a library and a self-guided tour book you can purchase at their Landmark Store.
