Description:
The Bowers Mansion in New Washoe City, NV was built in the mid-19th century during the Comstock Lode era, a silver mining boom. Constructed by Lemuel and Eilley Bowers, prominent figures in the mining community, the mansion showcased opulent Italianate architecture and served as their residence and a social hub. After the decline of the mining boom, the mansion changed ownership multiple times and underwent various uses before becoming a public park in 1946. Today, the restored mansion operates as Bowers Mansion State Historic Site, offering visitors a glimpse into the grandeur of the Comstock era and the Bowers' influential role in the region's history.
