Cathedral Gorge State Park

More than 2 million years ago, a giant lake covered what is today known as Lincoln County, Nevada. As the lake dried up slowly over a few hundred years the soft clay bed was left, hardening into a giant mass. Erosion from trickling rainwater carved grooves into the exposed lakebed resulting in the magnificent formation you see today. For more information and maps be sure to stop at the Nevada State Park Regional Visitor's Center first. The park and trails are 24/7.
