This modest hotel with the neon sign boasts a surprisingly luxurious lobby. Established by the brother of film director D.W.. Griffiths, this hotel became the favorite temporary home of many Hollywood movie stars. It opened in 1936, but still has vacancies today at a reasonable price. It has been featured in a dozen or so movies since the 1940s, the latest one being the 2017 indie flick "Bottom of the World" starring Jena Malone.
