The Mine Experience

Situated on a 1.4-acre parcel of land next to the Gordon McCaw STEAM Academy campus, the McCaw School of Mines came into existence in the early 1990s under the initiative of the then-Principal of Gordon McCaw Elementary School, Janet Dobry. Resembling the Indiana Jones Ride at Disneyland, this unique facility spans 5,100 square feet and replicates a historical underground mine. Its inauguration took place in 1996, marking it as the sole simulated underground mine of its kind in the state. Subsequently, in the year 2000, a 3,000 square foot Visitor's Center was introduced to the premises.
