Billy the Kid's Grave

On July 14, 1881, Billy the Kid was killed in Fort Sumner. The Fort Sumner Museum holds all kinds of Billy the Kid memorabilia but is this his final resting place? In actuality, no one knows where within the cemetery The Kid is located and the tombstone and cage are just an approximate location - for shortly after The Kid's death, a flood washed away the wooden tombstones and the current grave site is just a guess.
