Description:
Ethyl the Whale is an 82-foot-long, life-sized blue whale sculpture made entirely from recycled plastic, holding the Guinness World Record for the largest recycled plastic sculpture . Created by artists Joel Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova, Ethyl was originally commissioned by the Monterey Bay Aquarium to raise awareness about plastic pollution . In 2019, the Santa Fe-based art collective Meow Wolf acquired Ethyl and relocated her to the Santa Fe Community College campus, where she continues to serve as a powerful symbol of environmental consciousness.
