Located on East Highway 70 between Roswell and Alamogordo, Fox Cave was once used as a hideout by outlaws such as Billy the Kid and Henry Antrim, who participated in Lincoln County War and eventually became an outlaw in the Old West. The cave was formed over thousands of years by rock (micritic limestone) erosion caused by the Ruidoso River.
