Description:

This area was once a thriving coal mining town, but saw hard times and a sparse population in the 1950s. Starting in the 1970s a resurgence coincided with the influx of hippies who took advantage of the abandoned cabins. Today the community has grown into a quirky art enclave with a neighborhood of galleries, coffee shops, and B&Bs.
