Description:

The Miner Memorial Statue, standing at 10 feet tall, wears bronze clothing and body that appear eroded. Carrying a pickaxe and wearing a helmet, the statue honors coal miners who once worked in the hills around Ratón. Its exposed spine features faces on each vertebra, representing those miners. Crafted by artist Maye Torres in the late 2000s, the statue, known as Untitled Coal Miner #1, sparked controversy. Some felt the worn-out parts disrespected miners' hard work and health issues, while others likened it to the character RoboCop, calling it "The RobloMiner."
