Abandoned Bennett School for Girls

The sight of the crookedly standing Victorian monstrosity leaning and bowing with time is enough to send shivers up the spine. Interestingly, there are no major ghost legends abound here. The goosebumps-inducing structure called Bennett College was opened in 1890 and operated until the 1970s. Majors included art, fashion, music, literature, and child development, among others - what was available at that time for up-and-coming young women from affluent families. With co-education and other social changes occurring in the middle to later half of the 20th century, Bennett College did not survive modern times. The main building, Halcyon Hall, was originally built as a luxury hotel, but it served nicely as a school with dormitories. Although it is a popular site for urban explorers, the structure is not stable.
