Description:
Banksy’s “Hammer Boy,” painted on the side of a DSW store at 79th Street and Broadway in October 2013 during his “Better Out Than In” residency, cleverly incorporates a real fire‑hydrant and standpipe into a carnival-style strongman game, transforming mundane city fixtures into playful art. Protected behind plexiglass by the building’s owners (the Zabar family), it remains the sole surviving Banksy in NYC, applauded by locals and tourists alike for its whimsy and inventive use of urban landscape.
