Description:

Cascadilla Gorge, a striking natural feature in Ithaca, showcases a stunning combination of rock formations, flowing water, and lush trees. Cascadilla Creek descends 400 feet from Cornell University's campus to downtown, cutting through ancient bedrock and revealing sedimentary rocks deposited over 400 million years ago. Preserved and donated by Robert H. Treman in 1909, the gorge was entrusted to Cornell for public use, education, and enjoyment.
