Eternal Flame Falls

This small waterfall is located in the Shale Creek Preserve in western New York. The interesting aspect of the Eternal Flame Falls is that at its base, in a small grotto, natural gas is emitted which can be lit to produce a small flame. The flame is visible year round, however, it can be extinguished and must occasionally be re-lit. This falls was featured in the book "Secret Places" by Bruce Kershner. (Photo by Naomi K)
