Montauk Point Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the easternmost tip of Long Island, in Montauk, New York. It's the oldest lighthouse in New York State and is considered one of the most iconic and important landmarks in the area. The lighthouse was first commissioned by the Second Congress in 1792, making it one of the first lighthouses to be built in the United States. It was constructed on the highest point of land in the area, overlooking the treacherous waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which had claimed many ships over the years. (Submitted by Fabie BT)
