Description:
The Mushroom House in the town of Perinton, New York has been featured in television programs including HGTV's "Offbeat America" series and books due to its unusual appearance. The house is made of four 80-ton pods resting on reinforced concrete stems that are 14 to 20 feet in height. These fan out and connect to the pods at the base The pod sides are each "capped" and completely windowed. Each pod serves as the living and dining area, kitchen, and two as sleeping areas. The house was constructed between 1970 and 1972 and was designated a town landmark in 1989. In 2012, the house sold for $799,900.
