Description:
This 12-acre zoo is located off Flatbush Avenue on the eastern side of Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York City. It opened in 1935 and it's also known as the Brooklyn Zoo. It was closed in 1988 for reconstruction for a five year, $37 million renovation program and was rededicated on October 5, 1993 as the Prospect Park Wildlife Conservation Center. The zoo houses some 630 animals that represent about 101 species and it averages 300,000 visitors annually.
