This coop was built in the 1880s - a tantalizing mix of Renaissance, Gothic, and Victorian architecture. It gained some notoriety on December 8, 1980 when John Lennon was murdered right outside its doors. Today, its apartments go for tens of millions of dollars. Some of its notable former and current residents include Gilda Radner, Roberta Flack, Yoko Ono, and Maury Povich. It has also made the big-screen; the exterior can be seen in the classic Polanski horror film, "Rosemary's Baby." (Submitted by Jose Tinajero)
