Description:

Once celebrated as America’s greatest zoo, The Catskill Game Farm opened in 1933 as the country’s first privately owned zoo, housing over 2,000 animals and drawing tens of millions of visitors over its 73-year run. Families returned yearly for memorable experiences, like feeding deer in the petting pen or hearing the zoo fall silent when the lion roared. Closed in 2006 due to financial challenges, the property was later purchased in 2012, with the Old Giraffe Barn transformed into "The Long Neck Inn," a boutique hotel opened in 2019. Guests can now stay on-site, exploring 200 acres and over 100 buildings of the iconic zoo.
