Description:
Built on a river port destroyed by British forces in 1776 Fort Anderson was rebuilt as a fort during the Civil War. Academic research did not commence until 1951 when Lawrence Lee began exploring it. Excavations have uncovered remains of the pre-Revolutionary town and its artifacts. This park, open only during the summer season to visitors, has been a film location for the TV show "Sleepy Hollow."
