Description:

Marked by a disintegrating rectangular concrete tower, Old Carbonton Dam was deactivated in 2005 due to its negative effect on the ecosystem of Cape Fear River. Although the dam was torn down, the machine house can still be explored. Picnic tables are made available to urban explorers and a sign tells you that this spot is the geographic center of North Carolina.
