Donna Fargo is an American country music singer and songwriter who gained fame in the 1970s. Born on November 10, 1945 in Mount Airy, North Carolina as Yvonne Vaughn, she adopted her stage name from the city of Fargo, North Dakota. She is best known for her hit single "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA," which topped the country music charts and also crossed over to the pop charts, becoming a major success in 1972. The song earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Donna Fargo's music often featured upbeat and optimistic themes and she continued to release several other successful singles throughout the 1970s.
