Description:
No one is 100% certain where the name came from. Some believe that a man named Junaluska Whank is buried somewhere close by and others believe that the name means "where the bear passes" in Cherokee. A well-constructed bridge goes over Deep Creek allowing a full view of the falls. Only a half-mile in distance and 194 feet total in elevation gain, this is a nice, short trail for most skill levels. After entering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park drive about half-a-mile to reach the trailhead.
