Description:
Introducing Major, the magnificent bronze bull sculpture towering over downtown Durham, weighing in at a whopping 2,000 pounds and measuring an impressive 10 feet. Majestically positioned in the heart of Central Carolina Bank Plaza since 2004, Major has become an emblem of good fortune and prosperity for both residents and visitors alike. Crafted by talented local artists Michael Waller and Leah Foushee, this iconic sculpture was commissioned by Central Carolina Bank in loving memory of George Watts Hill, a remarkable figure who served as the bank's President and Chairman of the Board for an astounding 61 years before his passing in 1993. A revered World War II veteran, George affectionately earned the moniker "Major" among his close friends.
